Panic Attacks and “Who Gives a Hoot”: The Perfect Couple
0There are so many management strategies and techniques available to help us manage our panic attacks, agoraphobia, derealization, depersonalization, avoidance, and whatever else panic and anxiety may throw our way. Some of them are incredibly simple; however, our occupied minds roll right over them. It isn’t too awfully surprising that we don’t at times see the forest for the trees, is it? Well, one of the techniques I’ve used over the years to help me publicly cope with panic is something I refer to as “Who Gives a Hoot.”
Incorporating the principles of “Who Gives a Hootness,” I was fully prepared to be seen as the biggest fool in the world during a panic attack and not give a hoot about what anyone thought. I believe adopting this philosophy is so very essential to recovery. No doubt, we’re always overly concerned about how we’ll appear if a stranger witnesses one of our panic attacks. To us, that would be the ultimate in humiliation. What would we say? How could we explain? And this obsession with not wanting to be seen having a panic attack is just one of the major contributors to so many of our avoidance challenges.

Panic Attacks, Fear, and Learning: Fresh Insights
0Any sufferer of panic attacks, agoraphobia, derealization, depersonalization, generalized anxiety, phobias, post-traumatic stress, or obsessions and compulsions is likely to have a pretty good feel for the concept of fear. Perhaps an understatement, right? Heck, as I was writing this article I opened my panic attack recovery eWorkbook and ran a “find” on the word “fear.” It appeared 270 times! So I’m thinking there’s a lot of it floating about.
Now, any number of experts will proclaim fear is a matter of thought, and others will refer to it as an emotion. No matter now, because for the sake of this article we’re going to consider fear as purely a learned phenomenon. And the lesson is learned through association with some sort of unpleasant event that occurred in the past. But, just how does this biochemically occur? And why is having the answer to that question important to us? Stay tuned.
Well, it seems as though neuroscientists have now located the very neurons that are responsible for fear learning in mammals. Using a highly sophisticated imaging technique called Arc catFISH (FISH is an acronym for fluorescence in situ hybridization) researchers at the University of Washington have traced all sorts of neural activation in the brains of rats. And they’ve pinpointed the basolateral nucleus of the amygdala as central in the dynamics of fear encoding.

Symptoms of panic attack
0When a person feels intense fear or apprehension suddenly and without reason, such an episode is described as a panic attack. A person can suffer from repeated attacks. Also, when a person has suffered once, he may feel great anxiety about a repetition of the episode. Such a person is said to suffer from panic disorder.
A panic attack typically starts suddenly and reaches its peak within ten minutes. Though there is no actual physical harm done, it may take a person several hours to recover from such an episode. The symptoms are often confused with heart attack. In fact you may actually fear that you are having a heart attack or a nervous breakdown. They are much more easily detected and treated among women than in men.

Panic Attacks, Interpreaction, and Interpreversal: A Mind Game You Can Win
0I’d like to share two concepts I believe will be of great assistance as we approach panic attacks, agoraphobia, derealization, and depersonalization – any of our anxiety and mood-driven misery, for that matter. They play so very big and need to be put into practice over and over again. And that’s exactly why I came up with names that are easily remembered.
The first is “interpreaction,” which reminds us of the fact that interpretation always drives reaction. And the second is “interpreversal,” emphasizing if interpretation can create a negative reaction, it only stands to reason it must also hold the power to reverse this reaction to a positive. Do these make sense to you?

A Method to Alleviate Stress And Panic Fit Derealization Stress
0Mental well-being is giant in the media at the moment. Campaigns abound to raise our awareness and famous people talk regularly about stress, depression and panic fit derealization hysteria and the devastating effects they have had on their non-public, work and family life.
basically, one recent article claimed that almost 1/2 of Australians are have or have had a little form of mental illness. Why, as the experts agree, are 75% of us stressed out? Why are our lives so busy and what are we getting out of it? How do we live with this building up of pressure inside us without exploding? How will we find the balance between achieving our goals and relaxing into the present moment? Terribly huge questions. Clearly, mental well-being doesn’t just occur. We want to work on it. Daily. This may sound like a huge ask but the choice is rather upsetting. As more of us become aware of our high stress level and how it can negatively impact our health and relations, more of us look for answers. One choice is to turn to the pros, say we are sad and be prescribed potent mind-altering medicine that might or may not address the symptoms and ignores the cause.
