Panic Attacks, Interpreaction, and Interpreversal: A Mind Game You Can Win
0I’d like to share two concepts I believe will be of great assistance as we approach panic attacks, agoraphobia, derealization, and depersonalization – any of our anxiety and mood-driven misery, for that matter. They play so very big and need to be put into practice over and over again. And that’s exactly why I came up with names that are easily remembered.
The first is “interpreaction,” which reminds us of the fact that interpretation always drives reaction. And the second is “interpreversal,” emphasizing if interpretation can create a negative reaction, it only stands to reason it must also hold the power to reverse this reaction to a positive. Do these make sense to you?

Depression Treatment – Understanding the Causes of Depression
0Depression is a very widespread problem today affecting one in four women and one in eight men. Many people are aware of many symptoms of depression, including feelings of hopelessness or helplessness, obsessive negative thoughts, loss or gain in appetite, insomnia or increased need for sleep, social withdrawal , irritability and loss of memory or concentration, and recurrent in the minds of death or suicide. It is tempting to think that depression is sadness and the causes of depression will simply disappear and the negative feelings will subside. However, the causes of depression are not simple, and while a negative event can trigger depression, the causes of depression are not external factors alone. Many of the causes of depression sufferer issues.
Major depression treatment almost always includes the use of anti depressant medication. However, people should know that depression treatments do not cure depression. This depression treatment simply works by treating depression symptoms. Treatment when the depression kicks in and symptoms are under control of individuals with depression can begin the task of finding the root of what the cause of their depression. A great way to do this is through therapy.
Depression treatment with medications does not always work the first drug given. People have different responses to different drugs. No magical pill that works for everyone and for every level of depression. What is common about depression treatment that involves the use of drugs that it can take several weeks for the drugs or effect? This means the person might not see immediate relief. It is important for people to understand or they can stop their depression treatment before it has had a chance to work. After how many weeks that a particular drug is not bringing relief the doctor is either the dose or prescribes a different medicine. This process may continue until the individual is matched with a drug that works.

Derealization & Depersonalization: Peculiar Bits of Business
0The most troubling phenomena my panic and anxiety readers and clients report are the dissociative states, derealization and depersonalization (DD). I’ve written two Internet articles on DD; however, I wanted to share some fresh thoughts. Please understand my deep frustration in not being able to offer the solutions for which you may be looking. Unlike so many “authorities” that offer “miracle cures,” I simply won’t lie to you. But ongoing study and discussion of DD serves to increase awareness, which will ultimately lead to concrete relief alternatives.
DD are peculiar bits of business. I mean, they’re the source of terror and desperation for those who didn’t invite them to the dance, yet to a recreational drug user or one who enjoys altered perceptual states they’re honored guests. Let me share a funny story. It was 1972 and I was a freshman at Michigan State. Well, one night the floating party rolled around to our dorm room and the joints began to circulate. I was a marijuana-virgin, but against my better judgment I gave it a go. In very short order I found myself in a dissociative state, running up to my older brother’s fifth floor room to tell him what happened, hoping to find a measure of relief for my horror. He offered absolutely no comfort, as he tore out of the room in a mad dash for what he was sure would be some killer weed. By the way, what I had experienced wasn’t foreign, as I began having bouts of derealization at age nine.

Depression
Some people say that depression feels like a black curtain of despair coming down over their lives. Many people feel like they have no energy and can’t concentrate. Others feel irritable all the time for no apparent reason. The symptoms vary from person to person, but if you feel “down” for more than two weeks, and these feelings are interfering with your daily life, you may be clinically depressed.

Various Types of Anxiety Disorders
0Anxiety is a feeling of unease. Anxiety is only considered to be a mental health problem when it is prolonged, severe and is interfering with everyday activities. Fortunately, most anxiety disorders are highly treatable with psychotherapy, drugs, or a combination of both. There are at least nine identified types of anxiety disorders, include generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, specific phobia, separation anxiety, school avoidance, and agoraphobia. Anxiety disorders in children can range from a simple adjustment disorder to more difficult and debilitating disorders such as panic disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder. It’s normal to feel anxious when facing something difficult or dangerous, and mild anxiety can be a positive and useful experience. Excessive anxiety is often associated with other mental health problems, such as depression. Unfortunately, many people with anxiety disorders don’t seek treatment because they do not believe they have a legitimate illness, or they fear the reaction of family and friends.
