Ecstasy Treatment Of Traumatic Anxiety
This is interesting news. Ecstasy drugs can contribute to lasting improvement for psychotherapy, according to Norwegian researchers. This is done using pharmacological versions of ecstasy, MDMA (3,4 methylenedioxy-N-methyl-amphetamine) where MDMA helps to increase level of oxytocin in the brain which stimulates emotions such as connection, proximity and trust. In a therapeutic context, it means that the patient may be better able to open up and have confidence in the therapist.
From a case study of 21 people from chronic, Michael Mithoefer took 21 people with chronic PTSD, all of whom had been subjected to documented abuse. All had also been through six months of treatment with traditional therapy, in addition to a three-month treatment with drugs. None, however, had shown any improvement from the treatment.
Two months after the treatment, 92 percent of MDMA patients had clinically significant improvement in their conditions: They were more open to therapy and were able to process the trauma. They managed to escape from their shells and shame, and to see lifelong patterns of behaviour. They were less dispirited, evasive and afraid. In contrast, only 25 percent of the patients in the placebo group showed progress. Everyone in this group was subsequently offered treatment with MDMA, and the results have been good, with no serious or lasting side effects.
In summary, we suggest that MDMA is an emotional enhancer that helps the patient feel safer and in control, better able to connect with memories, and more capable of the emotional processing that is needed for improvement.”
Teri Krebs’ and Pål-Ørjan Johansen’s explanatory model is being published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology.

I think that yes this probably can work for people who have anxiety but this can also cause dependency and addiction. So is the medication something that they eventually taper off or is it just a pill that someone is going to have to take for ever. I think that if you have to take a pill for the rest of your life to feel normal than your not really cured your just covering up the real problem.

I have read that trust is Square Number One for a mental health practitioner (e.g. psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.) to achieve with any patient before the therapy that the practitioner might try to impart can begin to take hold. Recently, however, I have seen how some mental health practioners may not place the achievement of trust with their patients at the top of their list of first steps to achieve in the practice of their profession.

Anxiety is just a state of mind. It can very well be cured. But one need to work upon it by using some natural remedies.
Deep breathing exercises are excellent for anxiety and many people report positive results from meditation. Some other natural anxiety remedies to look into are St.John’s Wort, SAMe, L-Theanine, and Tryptophan.

I believe the research, and I would caution people who think that they can go buy extacy off the street and improve their anxiety. For one, extacy off the street can be made or laced with anything, including heroin and LSD.
